Montaukett Native Americans of Long Island diorama with Pepper’s Ghost Projection
A Collaboration with Phil Fraley, Phil Fraley Productions Inc.
Background painting by Jeremy Angier
For the Montauk Lighthouse Museum, Long Island, NY

Detail of diorama showing native culture in a current landscape and archeological dig superimposed by a ‘Pepper’s Ghost Illusion’ of the area's original inhabitants and their culture.

When the viewer presses a button, lights on the diorama dim while a light on a scene below turns on to illuminate the tableau of Montauketts. Their reflection appears on a pane of glass superimposed over the scene. These ghosted images are using the same artifacts that the archeologists are digging up.
