Thomas Mifflin, Signer of the Constitution for the Signer's Hall of the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia, PA
Thomas Mifflin was a signer of the U.S. Constitution from Pennsylvania and he was a major general in the Continental Army and the first governor of Pennsylvania. With the help of an historically accurate portrait of Mifflin as depicted by John Singleton Copley in his "Portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mifflin (Sarah Morris)" of 1773 (collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art) the challenge was to create a realistic portrait in clay based on two dimensional reference material while changing the subject's expression.
Ann Hirsch worked as part of a team of 8 sculptors to create 42 lifesize figures in bronze for the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA.
